2010 - CORAL PRINCESS - THE PANAMA CANAL

View 2010 PRINCESS - FORT LAUDERDALE TO PANAMA CANAL on hasbeen's travel map.

THE IDEA FOR ME HERE WAS - TO GO INTO THE CANAL, TENDER ASHORE, TAKE A TOUR TO AN INDIAN VILLAGE AND CATCH THE SHIP UP OUTSIDE THE CANAL ... OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT.

IN THE EVENT, THAT WAS NOT POSSIBLE. THERE HAD BEEN SO MUCH RAIN IN THE AREA THAT THE CANAL HAD ACTUALLY CLOSED A FEW DAYS AGO DUE TO TOO MUCH WATER.

THE FIRST SUCH CLOSING IN HISTORY OR THE LAST FIVE YEARS OR THE LAST WEEK - THE STORY CHANGED.

ANYWAY - NO ONE GOT OFF IN PANAMA & THERE WERE A LOT OF VERY UNHAPPY PEOPLE.

I HAD ALREADY TRANSITED THE CANAL BEFORE BUT IT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO GO TO THE VILLAGE.

THE PANAMA CANAL

A MARVEL OF ENGINEERING BUT WE HAVE MORE LOCKS JUST DOWN THE ROAD, RIGHT HERE IN OTTAWA. SEEN ONE - SEEN THEM ALL.

I GUESS THIS ONE IS A BIT BIGGER THOUGH, BUT DOES SIZE REALLY MATTER?

THIS IS WHERE HAVING ACCESS TO THE SANCTUARY REALLY CAME INTO IT'S OWN. THE WHOLE WIDTH OF THE BACK OF THE SHIP AT OUR PLEASURE.
