2013 - TRAINS AROUND SWITZERLAND - ZURICH

View 2013 TRAIN - SWITZERALND on hasbeen's travel map.

ZURICH

MINUS THE GNOMES. DID NOT SEE A ONE.

SINCE I HAVE A GO-ANYWHERE TICKET & THE WEATHER IS DISMAL, I GO TO THE STATION & TAKE THE NEXT AVAILABLE TRAIN OUT & FOLLOW IT TO THE END OF THE LINE. WALK AROUND THERE A BIT IF THE WEATHER COOPERATES & GET ANOTHER TRAIN TO THE END OF THE LINE.

GOT VERY CLOSE TO LICHENSTEIN & IF I HAD REALISED IT, I WOULD HAVE GONE THERE.

THERE IS ALSO ANOTHER BOAT RIDE IN THERE SOMEWHERE..

ROAMING AROUND SWITZERLAND IS LIKE GOING TO THREE COUNTRIES IN THAT THE LANGUAGE CHANGES DEPENDING WHERE YOU ARE. I HAVE NOTHING OTHER THAN ENGLISH BUT I DO LIKE TO SAY HELLO & GOOD MORNING ETC. IN THE LANGUAGE OF THE PERSON I AM TALKING TO. THAT'S A LITTLE ODD WHEN THE COUNTRY IS THE SAME BUT THE NEXT PERSON SPEAKS ANOTHER LANGAUGE.

NEVER DID GET TO HEAR ROMANCH THOUGH. OR IF I DID, I DID NOT RECOGNISE IT AS SUCH.

I SHOULD GET THIS TRANSLATED. IT MUST MEAN SOMETHING DIFFERENT THAN THE ENGLISH.

AND THE SWAN SONG FOR SWITZERLAND...

A GREAT TRIP & SPECTACULAR SCENERY. QUITE A FEW PEOPLE TO CHAT TO BUT MOSTLY DUTCH. SWISS WERE MOSTLY HOTEL PEOPLE.

CRUISING IS STILL MY PREFERENCE THOUGH. LIVING OUT OF A SUITCASE & HAVING LUGGAGE WITH ME A LOT IS A PAIN YOU DON'T GET ON A CRUISE..

WOULD I GO AGAIN.

YES - CHUR, INTERLAKEN OR ZERMATT. LUGANO FOR THE WEATHER BUT I WOULD HAVE A HOTEL DOWN BY THE LAKE.

THE END
