2014 - AEGEAN ODYSSEY - CONSTANTA, Romania
Fri 10 Oct 2014
A pleasant day at sea crossing the Black sea. I love sea days. This segment is much more relaxed to the prior one in that respect.
As there are so few passengers now, some of the crew had been let go but there are still a lot of them. A bonus is that they have a bit more time to chat with the passengers. The boys in the terrace restaurant are always a delight. Most of them know me by name now & are all very cheery.
Stef the cheese guy & Alwin are good at looking after me.
Grace & Andrea are constantly hovering with a bottle of red & white to hand. Good girls ..
Another two girls. Cherry Lynn and Maricel in the lounge have become very chatty. The bands have not changed for this segment. Zzzzzzz..
I am meeting less passengers though.
But now we are in Romania, an addition to the itinerary.
I guess this bank is very good at getting blooooood out of a stone
The tour today is a quick flit around Constanta where we visit a museum.
I am very quick with museums so I am outside listening to Fur Elsie being played over loud speakers, being interviewed by Romanian TV.
I should go on line to see if I can see myself.
Have a look inside a church.
Have a photo stop at a rather dilapidated casino where wedding couples come for the back-drop. Cannot imagine why.
Then it's out into the countryside to a winery ...
Something is giving this lady a headache ....
and we haven't even started on the wine yet!
Dancers come out. Always looking good.
These timid youngsters were looking on from the rear and beating their feet to the dances.
Christine in the glasses, amongst the glasses, has been with us since Athens. We eat together sometimes. In fact it may have been tonight. The only one of two times I went formal.
Angela & John were also at the table.
John has had an outrageous life for a chartered accountant
A big winery as you can see.
As for the wine? - well, the water was very nice.
Some street life on the way back to the ship ...
for sundown over the extremely large, but not very scenic port
Bulgaria tomorrow
